  1. Download the installerGet the latest installer for your platform from the Paraclette downloads page — ...-setup.exe for Windows, or the .dmg for macOS.
  2. Run itWindows: double-click the -setup.exe and follow the prompts. macOS: open the .dmg and drag Paraclette into your Applications folder.
  3. Launch ParacletteThe first launch prepares the Bible database and speech engine. This can take a moment — that’s normal.

The Windows installer ships with the speech model bundled, so it works offline immediately. On macOS, Paraclette recommends and downloads the best model for your hardware on first run.

First-run checklist

  1. Choose your microphoneOpen Settings → Audio and select the input device that carries the preacher’s voice. Watch the live level meter to confirm sound is coming through.
  2. Confirm your speech modelIn Settings → Speech Recognition, Paraclette shows the model recommended for your computer. Download it if prompted.
  3. Pick your Bible translationSettings → Bible Translation sets the default version verses appear in. Add more translations or languages from the same screen.
  4. Set up your display outputSettings → Display and the Broadcast Settings let you choose where verses appear — a second monitor, NDI, or a lower-third overlay.
  5. Activate your license (optional)The free Plant tier works with no account. Enter a license key to unlock paid features.

A built-in interactive tutorial walks you through the interface the first time you open the app. You can re-launch it any time from Settings → Help.

Activating your license

Paraclette runs free forever on the Plant tier — no sign-up needed. Paid plans (Sanctuary, Multi-Campus, Kingdom) unlock additional features and are activated with a license key.

  1. Get your keyPurchase a plan at paraclette.com/pricing. You’ll receive a license key by email.
  2. Open the activation dialogClick the tier badge in the top bar, or choose Upgrade / Activate from the licensing prompt.
  3. Enter the keyPaste your key and activate. Paraclette binds the license to this computer and unlocks your tier instantly.

How licensing behaves

  • Per-device activation. Each plan allows a set number of computers (1 for Sanctuary, 3 for Multi-Campus, unlimited for Kingdom).
  • Works offline. Once activated, Paraclette re-validates periodically online but keeps working between check-ins thanks to an offline grace period.
  • Graceful downgrade. If a license expires or can’t be verified, Paraclette never crashes or locks you out — it simply reverts to the free Plant tier so the service can continue.
  • Cloud transcription included. Paid tiers come with Paraclette-provided premium cloud speech recognition — no separate API key to manage.

Beta builds may include a fixed expiry date, after which the app gracefully reverts to the free Plant tier. Your service keeps running — you’ll just see the free-tier feature set until you activate a full license.
